Iustus, located in Malmesbury, exists since November 2007 and refers to the Latin term for justice and righteousness. We provide a helping hand for the employer and provide advice on labour law and labour matters. In the pursuit of this goal, Iustus would like to be seen as a progressive organization that applies values like human dignity, respect, and transparency. The role of Iustus is to represent and promote the complex labour law grounds to the best interests of its members. In agriculture, this area is probably more complex than in most other sectors and producers are increasingly experiencing:
• Infusion of new labour laws, regulations, ethics and other audits that they must comply with.
• Difficulty in keeping up with these requirements, let alone comply with it.
• Distraction from their main task of running their businesses successfully.
Deon van de Vyver, the owner of Iustus, left the education industry in 1998 and began working as a labour consultant at an employers' organization in Cape Town. In 2007, he and his wife, Aletta, decided to set up their office in Malmesbury. Over the past 10 years, they have experienced many highlights. The business also shows constant growth despite the tough economic situation.
Iustus' services include the drafting of service contracts, new or revised, representing the employer in any labour related issues as well as conducting disciplinary hearings amongst various other services. Here you can also receive training on legislative procedures.
Iustus also negotiates with unions, as well as the Department of Labour. They deal with staff reductions, assist in the drafting of a code of conduct for the workplace, deal with employer/employee disputes, provides advice and assistance in the event of strikes, facilitation of employer-employee meetings, assistance with change of ownership, representation at the CCMA, wage negotiations, 24/7 labour law help/advice line, implementing the regulations of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act in the workplace and keeping members informed and updated regarding changes in the labour market that apply directly to employers.
If you join Iustus as a member, it extends over a period of 12 months from the date of joining, and membership fees are determined by the number of employees employed.
PROACTIVE TRAINING
Each member receives proactive training in the form of an information implementation session so that you (and your employees) know what is expected of you - with all relevant labour law documentation being provided, explained, discussed and implemented.
DOCUMENTATION
Members receive free service contracts and all other documentation such as warnings, notices, policies and procedures, legislation, posters, etc. upon application and joinder.
LEGAL AID
We help employers to implement rules and discipline in the workplace, represent our members in the CCMA, as well as Bargaining Council matters and have a 24/7 labour law advisory line where you can talk to one of our labour law consultants at any time.
Iustus is an organization that is here to stay and tread deeply. Over the next decade, we wish to still represent our members, who participate in places where decisions are made that affect them.
